In operation at UC Santa Cruz for over 45 years, City on a Hill Press is the premier news publication on campus, written by students, for the campus and greater Santa Cruz community. Publishing weekly during the school year , City on a Hill Press helps keep students, staff and faculty connected to our community and serves as an open realm for thought and discourse. In addition, City on a Hill Press manages and operates cityonahillpress.com, our site dedicated to reporting on the latest breaking news and exploring all the perspectives of our community.
A Place to Grow
At City on a Hill Press, we are more than just news. We are a community of journalists, dedicated to the continued growth of our organization's members. We believe that, working together, we can achieve new things for the benefit of our readers and the greater Santa Cruz community.
When you join City on a Hill Press, you will be paired with an editor or manager: an experienced CHP staff member in your field. Part leader, part mentor, our editors work one-on-one with you to provide feedback on your work and guidance as you grow in your career. Further, team members often get the opportunity to meet with advisory staff and professionals in the journalism industry, providing the chance to learn and grow from the best.
A Social Community
Through City on a Hill Press, you'll make connections with other peers whom also hold a strong interest in journalism - friendships that can last a lifetime. And it's not all work, all the time. Organization leaders often step up to host social outings for organization members and friends, including trips to San Francisco Giants games and nights out on the town.

Once we've begun reviewing applications, you'll receive an email from City on a Hill Press with further information on the status of your application.
