We at cityonahillpress.com believe you have the right to know what information is collected about you, how such information is used, and how you can edit or remove your personal information from our records. Please read the policies listed below regarding your personal privacy.

What information do we collect about you?

Anonymous Visitors:

We collect from all visitors to our site anonymous metrics regarding the visitor’s browsing environment and browsing trends. Some examples of information collected include:

• Visitor’s browser and operating system.
• Visitor’s IP address, connection speed, and ISP location.
• Web pages the visitor visits.
• Information about which sites “refer,” or link, the user to our site.

This information is collected in aggregate using industry standard tools and can’t be used to personally identify any visitor.

Users with a Commenter Account:

Users opting to sign up for a Commenter Account are able to share additional information with us, including, but not limited to:

• Username
• Real Name & Nickname
• Email Address
• Website & IM screennames
• Personal Bio

Of this information, only a username and email address is required to sign up for an account. The Signup Edit My Profile pages will designate what information is required.

Users that are signed in to their Commenter Accounts are also able to leave public comments on individual posts.

Users that Opt-In to Email Communications (not related to Commenter Accounts):

Visitors to our site may choose to opt-in to email communications from City on a Hill Press. Examples of such opt-in communications include newsletters and breaking news alerts.

Visitors opting to sign up for such communications will be asked to provide us with their email address and name, as well as their preferences as to which communications they would like to receive.

How is the information you collect about me used?

Anonymous Visitors:

Anonymous information collected from visitors is aggregated and analyzed by City on a Hill Press site administrators and staff members to determine the browsing trends of its users. This is then used to improve our site’s design and content.

Additionally, City on a Hill Press may share aggregated data with third parties for purposes of advertising and advertising sales, when it is relevant.

Users with a Commenter Account:

Personal information linked to a Commenter Account, such as the user’s email address, may be used to contact the user with personal communications regarding their account. City on a Hill Press uses email as a primary form of communication, so users are expected to keep their email address updated so we can always get in touch should the need arise. Commenter Accounts with an outdated email address are subject to deletion.

Users have the ability to choose how their name is publicly displayed on comments via the Edit My Profile page. By default, the user’s Username is used, though users may opt to use their Nickname or Real Name instead. Users may also opt to upload a personal “User Photo” to their account (or to gravatar.com) that, when approved by a moderator, will show next to their name on comments.  All other information associated with the Commenter Account is kept private unless otherwise noted on the Edit My Profile page.

City on a Hill Press does not share private account information with any third parties, unless otherwise required by law in order to comply with an official court order.

Comments submitted via a Commenter Account are publicly displayed on the site. Users are encouraged not to share any private information about themselves or any other individual in comments.

Users that Opt-In to Email Communications (not related to Commenter Accounts):

Your email address is used by City on a Hill Press to send you the email communications you’ve opted to receive. Your personal preferences are used to determine what mailings to send you.

City on a Hill Press uses MailChimp, a third-party vendor, to administer its email lists. You can read MailChimp’s Privacy Policy at http://www.mailchimp.com/page/privacy/.

How can I edit or remove my information from your site’s records?

Anonymous Visitors:

If you prefer we don’t collect anonymous information from you, you can visit http://www.cityonahillpress.com/optout.html to disable anonymous data tracking. Please note that you’ll need to have cookies enabled on your browser to use this feature.

Users with a Commenter Account:

You can edit your personal information at any time by logging in to your Commenter Account and visiting http://www.cityonahillpress.com/wp-admin/profile.php.

If you prefer to delete your Commenter Account, please email the Moderator Team at mods@cityonahillpress.com using the same email address associated with your Commenter Account, so we can assist you.

Please note that user comments are edited or deleted at the discretion of the Moderator Team. If you have a concern about a comment you previously posted, please email mods@cityonahillpress.com using the same email address associated with your Commenter Account, so we can assist you.

About Cookies

cityonahillpress.com sets and uses cookies (small files stored on your browser) in order to help collect analytical data about a user’s visit and manage logged-in Commenter Accounts. Age Requirements

City on a Hill Press does not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from visitors under 13 years of age. If we discover we have inadvertently collected such information, we delete it promptly.
