
UCSC Professor of Agroecology and UCSC students talk about programs like CAN and PICA and their commitment to sustainable models of living. However, in midst of the “budget crisis,” the future of these programs is uncertain. Learn some of the reasons why these programs deserve our attention.

Friends of the Community Agroecology Network (FoCAN) recently held their sixth annual Fair Trade Marketplace, an event which hosted high school and college students from rural communities in Mexico and Nicaragua. It featured several local vendors dedicated to spreading awareness of sustainability and free trade.

Fourth-year Merrill student Moises Plascenia is preparing to embark on the adventure of a lifetime. Plascenia will leave for Jose Maria Morales, Mexico, this June and will study and volunteer with other students there through the Community Agroecology Network (CAN).
