
A collectively produced feature length documentary film by UCSC film students looks at the dynamics that make up the town of Watsonville. Exit 426: Watsonville will be premiered as a featured local documentary at the 2012 Santa Cruz Film Festival on Sunday May 13 at 3:45 p.m. at The Nickelodeon Theatre.

Every Sunday at 9p.m. , Shawheen Keyani and Kenton Towry will show a movie they believe the community would enjoy in the middle of the forest at UC Santa Cruz

Larry Shore’s documentary “RFK in the Land of Apartheid: A Ripple of Hope,” will be screened at UC Santa Cruz on Monday Feb. 13, at 7pm. It documents John Kennedy’s five day trip through South Africa in 1966, during the countries’ most intense time of apartheid.

It’s hard to say whether the patrons of Santa Cruz’s movie theaters over the winter holidays were searching for the future or yearning for the past. But it’s difficult to yearn for the past when the past is all around us.

Filmmakers from around the world partake in the 23rd Pacific Rim Film Festival, a week-long even in which artists present their films in Santa Cruz and Watsonville in order to spread awareness of cultural differences.

“Contagion” impresses sci-fi and action movie fans with an outstanding cast and note-worthy cinematography while possibly confusing, or even boring, moviegoers who were expecting more of a drama. Nonetheless, Contagion is a definite thriller for all.

On June 4, Atlantis Fantasyworld — a local comic book shop famous for appearing in “The Lost Boys” — will hold a special event featuring a screening of a movie about the first Bay Area Star Trek convention, a book signing with former Star Trek actress Joanne Linville, and a special celebration to bring 2T2 of “Captain Cosmic” fame out of storage.
