UCSC’s Center for Research in Storage Systems is an ongoing project gaining attention and nearly half a million dollars from big names in technology. The Center is working towards many different goals, most notably addressing the issue of safe, longterm storage of big data.

Narinder Kapany, also known as the Father of Fiber Optics, recently donated $500,000 to create an endowed chair of entrepreneurship at Jack Baskin School of Engineering.
