
With contract negotiations about to take off, UCSC has set the tone by going behind AFSCME’s back. Students need to stand with those who have stood with them.
The UC Office of the President’s recent announcement that the sale and use of tobacco products on all 10 UC campuses will be banned in the next two years prompted us to question the plan’s wisdom.

As the Nov. 18 pepper spraying of UC Davis protesters draws national attention, Yudof announces private consultants will examine the Davis actions, and UCPD protocol regarding campus protests.

“I intend to do everything in my power as president of this university to protect the rights of our students, faculty and staff to engage in non-violent protest,” said UC President Mark Yudof in a statement released on Sunday, Nov. 20.
