The Academy Awards are this Sunday and have been generating buzz as usual. Although some in the film industry take the Oscars extremely seriously, writer Blair Stenvick explains why she just enjoys poking fun at them.

The Santa Cruz County Planning Commission has recommended regulation of unincorporated medical marijuana dispensaries. The Board of Supervisors will vote on the ordinance, which would include requiring dispensaries to be at least 800 feet from each other, on March 16.

Last Friday, the House of Representatives voted in favor of an amendment to revoke $363 million in annual federal funds to Planned Parenthood. Given the fact that over 90 percent of Planned Parenthood’s annual budget is allocated towards preventative services and none of the organization’s federal aid supports abortion procedures, the politicians’ reasoning for supporting this bill is ludicrous.
